Hi, I'm Tara.

Missouri native, farmer's wife, mom of two. Natural light and sometimes studio photographer. Lover of good books, lake sunsets, long summer days, dogs, flowers, and learning new things.

I've had a passion for photography as long as I can remember. I spent the first two years of my undergraduate college career pursuing a photojournalism degree, shooting film and developing my own black and white photos in a darkroom. I changed direction midway through college and finished with a BA in Journalism / Marketing from Arkansas State University. I put my camera away for a few years while I finished a graduate degree in Marketing / PR from the University of Memphis, chased a career, got married and started a family (Max Henry - born in 2012, and Ann Ellis (born in 2014).

I dusted off my photography skills when our son was born in 2012 and documented every moment I could during his first year of life. I haven't put the camera down since. I'd call my photography style more journalistic than anything else. I love capturing genuine images. Images that reflect joy. Images that show glimpses of real personality. Images that show a family's true dynamic, and interaction with each other. I believe photo sessions should be fun and easy, with minimal stress and much laughter - a thoroughly enjoyable experience that you remember with a smile when you look at your images.

Beautiful, natural light photography. Tara has an artist’s eye and it shows in the way she captures the perfect look.
